Tabblo's Collaborative Photo Sharing Service Now in General Availability
New Version Delivers Unique Events Features, Unprecedented Creative Control, and Additional Print Products
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 10, 2006 - Tabblo Inc. today announced it has ended its public beta and formally launched the release of its collaborative online photo sharing service - www.tabblo.com. With general availability come rich new enhancements, including an easy new way to share photos taken by multiple photographers at an event.
Early accolades of Tabblo.com's public beta included a review in Walt Mossberg's column in The Wall Street Journal, in which he and his co-author Katherine Boehret wrote that Tabblo "...will change the way you look at photo-sharing online." During the public beta, Tabblo signed up tens of thousands of users who expressed themselves by creating an equal number of tabblos in an unprecedented display of community involvement with the creative aspects of the site.
Beta tester Lindsey Mead Russell said, "The first time I visited
Tabblo.com I was impressed by how different it felt from the photo-sharing applications out there. I take a lot of pictures and share them with a wide range of people, and the response has been enormously positive; people love the way that photos can be customized and comments can be added. I have had a lot of fun formatting and sharing a variety of tabblos, from pictures of my daughter's first tennis lesson to a huge tabblo of pictures from my college tenth reunion."
Tabblo is leading the second wave of photo sharing which goes beyond just sharing photos to a new interactive medium for personal publishing. Its integration with Flickr and Google's Picasa allows photos from these two popular tools to be easily incorporated into tabblos and its simple publishing methods to blogs and web pages has made Tabblo a favorite tool for personal publishing.
Tabblo has also added new features that provide an unprecedented level of desktop-like creative control over photo layouts, including a full color palette for layout backgrounds and new text options including sizes, colors and the ability to add hyperlinks. In response to user demand, Tabblo has also added the ability to create private shareable links to tabblos, as well as a range of new print products.
"Our beta testers have created amazing tabblos ranging from birth announcements to art portfolios. By marrying their photos and commentary, users are composing compelling visual stories such as travel journals, wedding sites, and family recipes and they share these stories online or publish on their web pages and blogs," said Antonio Rodriguez, founder and CEO of Tabblo. "Many of our new features have been inspired by the feedback we received from these lead users who were looking for even more creative control and richer community features."
New Features in General Availability
The general availability of Tabblo.com brings new features that give members even more ways to share their photos, enhanced creative control, and new specialty print products.
Sharing Photos from an Event
Prior to Tabblo, sharing photos from an event meant emailing photos around. There was no easy way to gather all the photos taken from various folks at an event and pull them into one place for all to see.
Tabblo's new event feature is an easy way to share pictures from an event with friends and family. Members reserve a tabblo email address (anythingyouwant@events.tabblo.com) that friendsboth members and non-members--can use to email their pictures directly to Tabblo. Tabblo will automatically add all the pictures that it receives to members' photo libraries.
More Creative Controls When Designing a Tabblo
By enhancing its rich photo editing and designer layout tools Tabblo now provides even more desktop-like creative control to its members.
- More color control: Expanding on the powerful tools already available, Tabblo now offers members full control over the color palette of each tabblo including the ability to change field color, background color, etc.
- Photo sizes: Tabblo members now have the ability to re-size their photos within their Tabblo to any size they choose.
- New layouts: Tabblo now offers additional layouts which use rectangular molds (e.g., portrait and landscape) for photographs.
- New text controls: With Tabblo, members can now change the size of their text and color as well as add hyperlinks within their text/commentary.
Shareable Links
Another way for members to share photos is Tabblo's new shareable link feature which allows members to email a group of people a link to a private URL featuring their tabblo. An additional enhancement to Tabblo's rich, industry leading privacy controls, shareable links are great for members who want to share photos of an event with a select group of people, such as someone who wants to post a tabblo of an office event but doesn't want their colleagues to have access to their family photos.
New Print Products
Tabblo has expanded its specialty print product line to include prints, larger posters and framing options.
- High resolution prints are now available in sizes 4 × 6, 5 × 7, 8 × 10, 16 × 20, and 20 × 30. Prices start at .25 cents and prints are available in glossy, matte or luster finishes.
- Tabblo's popular 11 × 17 posters are now available in a larger 15 ½" × 19 ½" size for just $19.95
- Tabblo now offers a framing option for its 8 ½" 11 and 11 × 17 posters. Choose from one of three attractive frames.
