Our goal is to use the theme to "see the world differently" and take photos based on the theme.
Each week, we will have a new theme or challenge.
Post as many Tabblos as you would like, but title them with WC: and the theme.
On Saturday, we will feature the 3 Tabblo's that illustrate the theme the best.
I use this to challenge myself and try seeing the world very differently and expanding my own skills as a photographer and artist.

Weekly Challenge no. 15: FIRE - A Tribute to Ed Ruscha created by Cruising on May 17, 2008:
|
Cruising said at 5:02 p.m. on May 17, 2008:
I took 3 weeks off, but am back with a special weekly challenge. The theme is FIRE! Let your mind imagine it. I went to the Chicago Art Institute with my daughter and they had a special exhibit for Ed Ruscha. I had heard of him, but never really looked at his work. WOW! I won't spoil his works, I would highly recommend you check it out online or anywhere. Check out the "motivation" for his "36 Parking Lots" (pretty sure that was it). The motivation was fantastic. So this weeks challenge is dedicated to Ed Ruscha and Photography. I look forward to seeing your creations.

Weekly Challenge no. 12: HORSING AROUND created by Cruising on Apr 6, 2008:
|
Cruising said at 11:48 a.m. on Apr 6, 2008:
I wanted to test our "imagination" this time again. So the idea is to notice or search out those situations where you find HORSING AROUND. I can't find a personal photo of a HORSE for the TABBLO this week, so I'll have to look around myself. If you find your family, co-workers or animals horsing around - then snap that photo. Upload your Tabblos and let's see just how fun this week can be.

Weekly Challenge no. 7: SIMPLICITY created by Cruising on Feb 24, 2008:
|
Cruising said at 9:51 a.m. on Feb 24, 2008:
This week's challenge is to try and capture: SIMPLICITY. The challenge to you: It can be showing "plain" or showing" non-complex. As you experience this week, look for those things that whisper "Simplicity". This can be single photo or a series. But keep it "simple"! ;) The real challenge is to find new opportunities to capture it.

Hello everyone in this group, I wanted to thank you for putting this group together. I saw this group through a family member and I read about the group and it got me to thinking and looking at things much differently. So I got the challenge on Sunday and out I went driving around for 3 hours. I can not wait until the next assignment. So thank you again for this group. I am glad I was introduced to this group.
Cruising said at 8:37 a.m. on Feb 28, 2008:
I am glad we have so much participation. I don't have time to post all my images, but I learn a great deal from viewing others. It takes me a while to cover them all, but I actually will take some notes in a photo journal I use for ideas. Thanks to all and keep them coming. If you have ideas for future themes, please send them to me in my inbox. I have a couple queued up but am always open to ideas.

Weekly Challenge no. 6: (2008-Feb-17) AT THE TOP OF THE HOUR (please read!) created by Cruising on Feb 16, 2008:
|
Cruising said at 1:06 p.m. on Feb 16, 2008:
This week's challenge is all about Tabblo and the diverse people we are across the world. It's a little experiment. We'll be back to our normal challenge next week. The challenge is called At The Top Of The Hour. Each day of the week, there will be a "designated" time of day. At that time, take some photos of "whatever" you are doing or "whereever" you are. Each of us will create a Tabblo representing the same moment in time on that day. We'll be able to share that moment through Tabblo. Name the Tabblo: WC: Sunday 2008-Feb-17 (for sunday) etc... It's this simple: So on Sunday at 10am Easter Eastern Standard Time we will take photos of whatever we are doing, whereever you are and create your Tabblo. On Sunday: In New York (EST) snap your photos at 11am In Chicago (CST) snap your photos at 10am In California (PST) snap your photos at 8am In London (UK), snap your photos at 4pm etc... The idea is that it is at the same moment each day. Remember to name the Tabblo: WC: Sunday 2008-Feb-17 On Monday: In New York (EST) snap your photos at Noon In Chicago (CST) snap your photos at 11am In California (PST) snap your photos at 9am In London (UK), snap your photos at 5pm etc... On Tuesday: In New York (EST) snap your photos at 2pm In Chicago (CST) snap your photos at 1pm In California (PST) snap your photos at 11am In London (UK), snap your photos at 7pm etc... On Wednesday In New York (EST) snap your photos at 3pm In Chicago (CST) snap your photos at 4pm In California (PST) snap your photos at Noon In London (UK), snap your photos at 10pm etc... On Thursday In New York (EST) snap your photos at 5pm In Chicago (CST) snap your photos at 4pm In California (PST) snap your photos at 2pm In London (UK), snap your photos at 11pm etc... On Friday In New York (EST) snap your photos at 8pm In Chicago (CST) snap your photos at 7pm In California (PST) snap your photos at 5pm In London (UK), snap your photos at 1am (sorry) etc... On Saturday In New York (EST) snap your photos at 11pm In Chicago (CST) snap your photos at 10pm In California (PST) snap your photos at 8pm In London (UK), snap your photos at 4am (sorry again) etc... It's an experiment. I hope you all try ... I'm setting my alarms now :)

This could be a little tricky, say for instance, having a shower, LOL.
Anjad said at 1:28 p.m. on Feb 16, 2008:
Like the idea Bob, but the the time difference will give a bit of a problem...especially for Wednesday, Thursday, Firday and Saturday. My local time is London +1 hour!!
Pkeener said at 1:30 p.m. on Feb 16, 2008:
hmmm. this feels a bit voyeuristic to me, but i am in.
Cruising said at 1:38 p.m. on Feb 16, 2008:
For those that will simply be "asleep" and don't want to wake up - add "12" to the hour... so if it's 1am, just take the photo at 1pm. Hope that helps.
Krisu said at 1:38 p.m. on Feb 16, 2008:
To me it is too difficult, too. My local time is (London) GMT +2 hours! I wish I could, love the idea! Also I can't use camera when I'm working...
Cruising said at 1:39 p.m. on Feb 16, 2008:
Sorry to those that can't do this. I was hoping on some days you could. We'll have a normal theme next week.
Ladylifter said at 11:30 p.m. on Feb 16, 2008:
Sounds like an interesting challenge - will enjoy attempting to capture the moment at the designated hour. Should prove to be some very diverse tabblos.

I don't see that issue. You might want to try posting this problem to the group Tabblo Issues. At the bottom of most pages is a link to forums and "contact us". Both of those should get you help from Tabblo tech support.

Weekly Challenge no. 5: (2008-Feb-10): HIDDEN created by Cruising on Feb 10, 2008:
|
Cruising said at 9:14 a.m. on Feb 10, 2008:
his week's challenge is to try and capture moments that scream HIDDEN or Hiding. My challenge to you: It's more then just something out of sight. It could be "magic" or emotions, or .... well that's up to you. So grab your camera and when you see something that may not be visible (did I say that right? ), capture it as HIDDEN. This can be single photo or a series. You can use old photos or Tabblos - but the real challenge is to find new opportunities to capture it.

This week's challenge is to try and "capture" MOTION. My challenge to you: Capture Motion with your camera - not with Photoshop or other software. You can still use Photoshop for levels or adjustments. Share all the different situations you can capture that just SCREAMS Motion. This can be single photo or a series. You can use old photos or Tabblos - but the real challenge is to find new opportunities to capture it.

|
Cruising said at 3:39 p.m. on Jan 26, 2008:
Another week of awesome Tabblos. You pushed the concept which is GREAT. This week is hopefully easy to picture but more difficult to "capture" The theme is JUST MISSED. Share all the different situations you can capture that is a "just missed" moment. This can be single photo or a series. You can use old photos or Tabblos - but the real challenge is to find new opportunities to capture it. And whatever you do - don't let "YOURSELF" become a "just missed" tabblo snapshot :)

Cruising said at 11:45 a.m. on Jan 19, 2008:
Your entries last week were fantastic. I saw some ideas I have never thought of. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Here is the goal of our weekly challenge this week. MYSTERY is the theme. This can be in a single photo, or a series of photos that "together" highlight the theme. But the challenge - is to find shots that reflect this theme as you go about your week. "Look at the world differently!!! Look for the Mystery"
Debdog said at 1:20 p.m. on Jan 19, 2008:

Cruising said at 2:23 p.m. on Jan 19, 2008:
You are both welcome. I was surprised how many Tabblos were added every day. That's why I am going to highlight the days best (that reflects the theme) each day (rather than once a week). I have found myself really trying to be creative. I love seeing all the submissions.

LOVE THIS BOB!!!!
Cruising said at 3:42 p.m. on Jan 13, 2008:
Someone asked how you will know the new challenge each week. Every Saturday, I will look at the previous weeks tabblos. I will select the top 2 or 3 and mark them featured (there is no science to this :) )... On Saturday, I will post a new posting (just like this one) marking it with the date and the new challenge. I do these "regularly" to keep myself challenged, but decided Tabblo was a GREAT place to share with others and see what you come up with. I usually find some shots that I use with the camera on my phone. The idea is to seek new ways to have fun. I am surprised at the shots I get and I have fun. I hope you do too. So this week is low and wide. If you have suggestions for future challenges, just post them or send me a private note. Have a great week! Bob
