On My Route

Mostly, life is uninspiring. We see the same things day after day, and all too often we forget why we noticed them in the first place.

Thanks for your route, was quite interesting! Liked it a lot. :)
Wlk68 said at 6:27 a.m. on Feb 2, 2008:
Well done. It shows us a take a closer look at something that would be considered pretty mundane and allows us to see it with fresh eyes. It looks like your route covers a lot of ground as well.

dar, this is such a nice piece of journalism. i love all the little slices of life you caught. i have always been a bit voyeuristic when i walk through neighborhoods..guess all photographers are. anyway, i really enjoyed this. from the intense to the sublime. little messages everywhere. great job, not only taking the photos, but putting it together.

Dar, I enjoyed this all the way through...seeing through your eyes as you do your route. Thanks for taking us along.

Dar--this is so much more than just my paper. So wonderful that i don't even mind the paper being a day late. I got to enjoy through your eyes all the interesting sights along your entire route. You captured so many of the little details oftened passed by. I like all the little posted signs on doors. I wonder what prompted the "Society is Creating Killers" sign. I was wondering how you carried the papers and you've answered that question. You far exceeded my expectations. Fantastic, creative tabblo. Thank You.

SPeaking of food ,:)i can smell the bread from that Italian cafe, and what's behind the "open " sigh ? phuew... I'm overwhelmed by impressions!! This is really interesting Dar, for many reasons. To be able to follow you, and what your eyes notice, of cource - but for me as a stranger to see your everdaylife-scenes AND because you took some darn good pictures as well! =) I would love to have titles on the photos so I easily could refer to some of my favourites, but that's because I'm often is in lack of words. The idea is so creative and so are your photos! Love this tabblo! =)
Eduardo.affonso said at 5:18 p.m. on Feb 2, 2008:
Everything is this tabblo is so new, so fresh, so unusual to me that it's hard to believe you can take such wonderful sights for granted. It's a favorite, from the very first pic.

It was so ironic... as I was scrolling to look at your tabblo, I was thinking that it was really neat how you can photograph mundane things and make them great. Then, I saw what you wrote at the bottom... Makes sense :-) Great imaginative tabblo! Thanks for the tour!

Really what you say is true, we see everything the day and do not pay attention, until one day you roll over and say that beautiful always time was there, really many beautiful things in one day .excellent photographies, they all have a captivation, I like me very much that of the small cat looking for the window, it is very beautiful you come out in photographs .. excellent Tabblo !!!

The heart of America. Perfect layout, too.

Most people are familiar with the writer's mantra, "write from what you know." It can apply to photography too: photograph what you know. It's so hard to see the everyday things around us. It takes a good eye to take a fresh look and give shape to what surrounds us.
AliDar said at 8:30 p.m. on Feb 2, 2008:
Thank you everyone; I'm very surprised that what I was doing came through so clearly to you all; some of you even got what I was thinking and feeling while I was taking these, but hadn't intended to make it part of the tabblo. Linda, I'm glad you like your newspaper delivery. Jude's been prompting me to take photos around my neighbourhood, but I kept thinking that everything was so boring, it would bore me to tears to take them, and bore everyone else to view. It was funny, I started out with that attitude, but it quickly turned into something that I needed to express. Thank you Jude and Linda for the prompting, lesson well learned. :)

Oh my! SO much to look at here! the chipped paint, the cat in the window, the wateringcan....all the great textures, the colour in those flower pots......and LOVED the reclining Gnome. :) A great "day in the life" composition. Thanks for showing us your neighbourhood.

So many favs in this one Dar..starting with the top, the four bundles of papers that you've placed so carefully in the basket (looks like the rear right tire needs to be changed soon). Loved how you carried the newspaper theme throughout the tabblo too. Taking shots of the freshly delivered papers it their proper spot. The door with the crazed message, looks like they dont mind consuming electricity though. The one opened window, the ones showing the weathered look of the frames, the nicely stated message to you, your cart is missing a front tire?, and the shy cat and of course your words which hopefully have a different meaning now. This is very inspirational Dar, teaching us not to take the everyday sights for granted. Well done kiddo.

Somehow I must have missed this truly excellent tabblo when you first posted it. This is "Tabblo" at its best I feel - giving one the opportunity to tell a story which in this case is so interesting. You are such an observant person and it shows in all your photos. My favourite is the one of the door with the peeling paint below the mailbox, # 153 (I think). I also love the cute pussy cat beside the poinsettia. Great job!
