Chichén Itzá es una de las majestuosas ciudades capitales de la civilización maya, que se localiza en el norte de la Península de Yucatán. Su nombre maya significa “La ciudad al borde del pozo de los itzáes”, y fue la ciudad más importante de la cultura maya en los años 750 a 1200 d.C.

 

Declarada Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO en 1988, hoy Chichén Itzá es uno de los sitios arqueológicos de México más visitados del mundo, en donde la belleza arquitectónica y todos sus secretos históricos hacen un lugar, mágico.

 

La grandeza de los edificios arqueológicos, su perfección visual y la inmensidad del sitio, cambiarán tu perspectiva sobre la cultura maya para siempre.

El Castillo es la construcción piramidal más importante de Chichén Itzá en la cual sobresale su gloriosa altura y su simetría perfecta. Entre los principales atractivos de esta milenaria maravilla, destaca el fenómeno natural del Equinoccio de Primavera, cuando se puede observar el efecto del sol formando la figura de una serpiente descendiendo por el exterior de la escalinata de la pirámide: Kukulkán.

Chichen Itza is one of the majestic capital cities of the Mayan civilization, located in the north of the Yucatan Peninsula. Its Maya name means "Mouth of the Well of the Itza", and it was the most important city of the Mayan culture between 750 and 1200 A.C.

 

Declared World Site Heritage by UNESCO in 1988, today Chichen Itza is one of Mexico’s most visited archaeological sites, it’s architectonic beauty and its historical secrets make it a magical place.

 

The greatness of its buildings, its visual perfection and the immensity of the site will change your perspective on the Mayan culture forever.

El Castillo is the most important pyramidal construction of Chichen Itza and excels by its glorious height and perfect symmetry. One of the main attractions of this millennium wonder is its the light phenomenon of Spring Equinox, when by the effect of the sunlight a figure of a serpent descending the exterior stairway of the pyramid can be observed: Kukulkan.

WOW! First, the sepia effect is perfect... the 1st photo is stunning with the clouds and contrast... and I can't even believe they were actually able to get a ball to go through that little tiny opening way up high like that!
