This Tabblo started with
The framing is done, so the siding guys came out and got started. We have the largest exterior wall sided now with our new octogan window (and removed the old floodlight), but they still need to do the back wall and side wall that's attached to the roof.
It's not stained yet (it's cedar siding) but it already looks great. Note the trim piece that we have up there to denote the saltbox slant that is still present on the rest of the roofline... |

Spot where the Toilet is going |
|
The old subfloor was removed and the joists below where the toilet is going were cut away, and a new box put in. Then the floor joists were reattached to the new box. This way the plumber doesn't have to run the waste line to the toilet thru several floor joists, which would make the floor less stable. |
|
Temporary wall in the kitchen |
|
In cutting away the floor joists in that section where the toilet will go, that made the floor really unstable for a bit until they were hooked back up.
So the guys came downstairs and put in a temporary wall underneath where they were cutting away. This stabalized the bathroom floor with a the wall in the kitchen below.

The siding guys finished siding the outside of the house, so we're all sealed up for winter! Which is great - it's getting cold out already. Went down into the 30s the past few days, though it's supposed to warm back up next week (so hopefully they can paint the exterior).. |

Tub from newly framed wall |
|
They set the tub in place today, but it's not hooked up yet. Big ta do with the tub. It's huge for one thing (6 feet) but no motors, no jets or anything like that. But we wanted a small space on the outside of the tub edge to put stuff, like shampoo, etc. We were thinking of just dropping the tub on a deck that was slightly larger than the tub and using the extra space in the back for that purpose. The construction supervisor was really concerned about a water tight seal, so we compromised on a shelf instead of just a flat tiled area, which would be able to drain down into the tub and not pond water.
You can see the small knee wall in the back that runs the length of the tub. We're thinking we'll probably put a stip of solid surface on the top to match the vanity top - that should tie in the color scheme nicely (thinking ahead here...). |

Tub rough plumbing |
|
The plumber and electrician came by and in 2 days, did the roughs for each. In this picture of the tub, you can see the tub has faucets now and there's feeds for the wall shower, but it's not hooked up yet.
In the picture below, there's the privacy halfwall for the toilet area. Next to that on the right is the vanity area... |

The exterior is painted!!
We had a really nice warm day and the painters took advantage of that to slap on 2 quick coats of paint. All we need is the gutter and downspout, and the exterior will be finished... |

Drywall in the vanity/toilet area |
|
We now have drywall! The green boards are moisture resistant drywall. All the wallboards are up and the taper is busily taping and applying layers of mud...
They also put up most of the concrete board around the tub area. The shelf and tub deck still need concrete board... |

After the drywall was put in, we had to put down a coat of primer paint and then a first coat of color.
For our color coat, we chose Opal Basil which is the same color we used throughout the upstairs.
Ok, so the Opal Basil (aka. green) doesn't look so great against the yellowish primer coat on the windows but just wait - the white trim color is soon to come! |

Tub tiled (but not yet grouted). |
|
Tiled (but not grouted) floor. |
|
The tile guys came back today and set the grout. The finished product looks really nice. There's alot of grout smear on the tiles, but we'll clean it up this weekend....
The tub area isn't quite done yet. Monday we get the corian shelf put in, along with the vanity top to match. |

Here's the cabinet that we've put into the bathroom to replace the built in cabinet that the tub replaced. We've got all of our towels and sheets and extras in there. |

|
We're starting to get to the ending stages. We've paid our balance to the contractor, finished painting the trim, added some dimmers to the lights, started loading up the cabinets and emptying out the spare bedroom and attic and installing the all important toilet paper holder, hand towel holders and robe hooks. As you can see, the mirror over the vanity is still on order but that should be installed in about two weeks. |

|
The only thing I wanted to show here is that we added a little shelf to the tub that matches the counter top. Additionally (can be seen in the pic above of the cabinet), there's a half wall separating the toilet from the vanity - that too has the matching top to try and tie it all together. |
