Chinese New Year Celebrations

to celebrate the new year, offerings of lettuce and oranges are given to the lions, who devour the food on the streets, while drummers play music. red envelopes of money are presented to the dancers as gifts. and firecrackers are lit. the vegetables and fruits are thrown up, as symbols or prosperity and good luck throughout the year.

food is a huge part of any cultural celebration. the chinese especially find it important to eat together, and share food.

my friends and i all had a huge dim sum feast after watching some of the street performances.
