Constructed Drawing Series #10

My work is a metaphoric investigation of the order in the disequilibrium of nature, of the beauty and tranquility within the frenzy of matter coming apart. While the work remains abstract, it alludes to something you think you have seen in the physical world but in fact, have not.

The Constructed Drawing Series are made from dozens of layers of torn black and white archival tape on paper. The tape allows for a fluidity of line and shape and a material presence that emphasizes the visceral nature of surface and the contoured edge. I try to capture the moment when the shape is morphing or shifting into another, struggling to hold the center still when the forces of nature prove too great.

Hi Deb- I was so excited to see this new piece! The attenuated linear strands pull the energy out from the center in an exciting way- just as I visualized they might. I'm wondering if this image could succeed as a giclee print edition? I know texture and materials are very important to you but with various shades of black maybe the layering would still show. Just an idea...
I like what you wrote as well!
Keep up the great work.
