Wow. This and your other Tabblo from tonight pack a one-two punch. Don't ask me to pick a favorite. Every shot is fantastic.

Ooh.
I like all of these.
Kind of like a summer dusk on the playground captured in time.
My favourites are the first four.

Seanan--Now this is some great rust. Love 3,4,5 and 6. Great close-ups and DOF. Really brings out the texture. It's as though if i touched them i would feel the rough surface of the rust.

The whole new perspective of everyday triviality. Amazing.

Amazing never thought rust would be so good to see

Wow,very nice. To take something simple, old and corroded and turn that into beautiful art. That is great. Thanks.

Thank you, Steve. I shan't press you to choose, but shall enjoy the fact that you like each of these. Thank you, Aubry. The colours do tell stories, don't they. Jeanine, it's great to read that these are interesting; sometimes, I think it's just me. Thank you, Linda. It was hard to find the right depth of field, working with a macro lens and a very strong curve. (This is a gate and the bars are not very thick.) I didn't have a tripod with me and was working by hand, so I was afraid that none of the texture would be caught. Mirela, thank you. Andre, I can get caught up in nothing. You don't want to go for a walk with me on one of my 'easily distracted' days. Isn't it funny, Teo? Who'd have thought that crawling around rotting metal could lead to interesting images. (I just remembered the first time I looked through a good microscope and saw things I hadn't imagined.) James, thank you. This is a stretch from Miami's sunsets. 'Way cool!' was more or less what I thought when I saw the gate, and then I was gone for longer than I had planned (not that I had plans). Thank you, Thierry. You are most kind. Thank you, all.

Pkeener said at 12:43 p.m. on Feb 20, 2008:
well, i love rust, and i am a huge fan of your work. what excites me is the way you bring us back and forth from extreme closeup to the whole subject. nicel presented. great lighting. well, how could it not be TOD? (again, young lady!!)
SeánanForbes said at 1:06 p.m. on Feb 20, 2008:
It's my first TOD and I was startled to see one of my tabblos in that place. Thank you for the congratulations. When I first saw the gate, I didn't know that the colours would look that intense or the textures that interesting. It was only when I put my eye behind the macro lens and the light started to change . . . This was pure luck. Some kindly person put that gate there and it waited for me to find it. Happenstance can be a fine thing. Here's to serendipity and kismet.
Debdog said at 1:16 p.m. on Feb 20, 2008:
congrats on TOD!!!!!!!!!! you have a great eye of taking what most would as nothing special, and making it so! :)

congrats on ToD....and getting caught up in nothing is what it's all about...great job!

Great job, Seánan! I like rust a lot, and your clean, elegant presentation makes it "shine". Congratulations on the very deserved TOD.

So cool, Seanan! Love the colours and the layout! And you made a TOD !! :)
SeánanForbes said at 5:16 p.m. on Feb 24, 2008:
Thank you, all. It's worth having struggled to get the computer working, to come and find such generous comments. The world is different, seen through a macro lens. I fear I've found another fascination into which I can contentedly cast away hours of my life. Texture, light . . . wait two minutes and the world changes . . . It's absorbing. Composing a tabblo is a new skill for me; fortunately, I can unabashedly steal techniques by looking at what all of you do. Thank you, everybody.
PhotoPop said at 9:52 a.m. on Feb 26, 2008:
Really like the very subtle colors on something so ordinary, good eye. Congrats on TOD.

What I love about photography and photographers is our ability to find the beauty where most people don't even bother to look. Well done again!
