timed exposure. shot while on one of the rides with Yasmine. |
sufficient light conditions. some loss of detail in the shadow. exposure set on auto. |
this tabblo is a follow up on the discussion about exposure settings which Debbie brought up on her "Easter Moon" and her "WC--The Strangest Places" tabblos. LatentE very nicely explained the intricacies of exposing for extreme highlights and dark shadows on the same photo. And Krisu, brought up a relatively new technic in digital technology which is HDR imaging (High Dynamic Range Imaging) which is actually a composite of a few photos exposed for different areas of the photograph.
in the following photos i will attempt to make some basic commentary on the light exposure conditions specifically for each photo.
disclaimer: i am by now means an expert on this subject!!! |
low light situation. photo is exposed for background (ie sky). if i had tried to expose for the foreground, my background would have been too bright with loss of color and detail. |
photo exposed for ferris wheel. street light is overexposed. |
handheld + slower shutter speed = slightly blurred |
handheld + no flash = blurry image. |
handheld + no flash = blurry image |
in order to expose for "movement" on the "tower ride", the inside of this food stall is overexposed. the spherical ball of light on the left edge of the photo is the moon. |
negative effect for fun. =) |
more overexposure to expose for movement. |
another negative effect from tabblo! |
all images were taken last year (summer) at a fair in Toronto. all photos were shot hand held and flashless. as you can see, i need to work on keeping my hands steady! =) |
again exposing for "movement". |
this tabblo is part of the "tabblo critique" group so please feel free to post how i could have improved my photos here. thanks! |
needless to say, we had a great time at the fair! =D |
