These photos were taken of the dunes in the Sossusvlei area of Namibia. Some of the dunes are over 1,000 feet high. Closer to the sea, the dunes are more like a long line of waves (see the photos towards the bottom), as the wind blows mainly from the West. Further inland around Sossusvlei, the East wind also hits the dunes, creating more start shaped patterns.
