Jiu Fen is a mountain town located at the north east side of Taiwan. Jiu Fen's gold rush started in 1893 and ended in 1971.

Because of the gold rush, Jiu Fen has once been a flourishing city with exciting night life. However, when the gold mind was exhausted, the mountain town also faded.

Until 1990, when famous movie "The City of Sadness" was shot here, Jiu Fen once again revitalized and attracted tourists from Taiwan, H.K. and Japan.
