In Faerie Fields

Today my oldest son

Gabe and I celebrated

Spring at the Annual

TULIP Festival in  Woodburn, Oregon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I will be the gladdest thing Under the sun!
  I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one."
~Edna St. Vincent Millay, Afternoon on a Hill
On the way to Woodburn, I could not help but notice this statue~
The "Father of Oregon"  Dr. John McLoughlin.
He does look a bit austere here.
The festival continues for a couple of more weeks ~ This year they are holding a Wine tasting event towards the end of April.  Sounds inviting~
And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
Oh so very, very beautiful... I love the first photo... you are beautiful too!!! I love the mixture of colors... tulips are one of my favorite flowers... and lilacs... but they neither one last long enough. I thought this would be Holland... not Oregon... maybe I will actually get here one day since I have a cousin in Oregon who wants me to visit... Holland is only a dream.
Hellodear said at 12:14 a.m. on Apr 9, 2008:
Good colors. can see the happiness in the photos. The first shot is cool. Thanks! KAM
Welshchick said at 3:54 a.m. on Apr 9, 2008:
Yes, do come and visit Jodi - you would love Oregon! There are so many cool places to go especially now that it is warming up a bit~ The lilacs are just getting tiny leaves so if you come in may you'll see Lilac Heaven!
Welshchick said at 1:14 p.m. on Apr 9, 2008:
Thank you Jan-they had about four of those old steam engines~ the farm is owned by a wonderful family-The Iverson family. It is quite a place: They have gift shops and special gardens for weddings and parties - plus the wineFest ~ they are also having a photo contest where the prize is a very nice camera - needless to say they were lots of folks with their camera's out there~
