..::CEIBA::..

Ceiba Pentandra

The tree grows to 200-230 ft tall (60 to 70 m) and has a very substantial trunk up to 10 ft in diameter (3 m). The trunk and many of the larger branches are densely crowded with very large, robust simple thorns.

In pre-columbian times had special importance because the Mayas used to celebrate their rites under the foliage of the ceiba, considering it a sacred tree which symbolized: life, greatness, goodness, beauty, strength and unity.

Thank you Andre and James... Yes, this is the name of the tree, I was thinking to make a tabblo about it since few months ago, but I just forgot until yesterday, with the tabblo "Earth Day" few people ask me about the Ceiba, so I said... "this is the time to share about this amazing tree" hehe... =)

And don't think that Karsten was hurt with the thorns hehehe... when the tree is very old then loose their throns, this remain only in the branches.

The Ceiba is a majestic tree, Noe. Sad to hear that as they age they lose their thorns, like old people losing their teeth. The circle of life. :)
