Paria River Canyon Backpack

BanjoBill's on-trail birthday with brownies supplied by Joanne

We come out of canyon on 6th day at Lee's Ferry, near Navajo Bridge which crosses the Colorado River.

Paria Canyon is located in southern central Utah, and crosses the Arizona border. This was a 38 mile backpack with an added 7 mile side-trip up Buckskin Canyon.  You walk in the river the majority of the way, and camp near natural springs. The gray-green muddy water of Paria River is alkaline and last choice for drinking. Luckily springs are plentiful. Each day revealed new aspects of this beautiful canyon.

somethin' surreal about the first shot, from where and how you took these photos we can "feel" the height of these cliffs (ok- i suck at tabblo critique) anyway super tab Allan!

Outstanding. Feel like I was there.
Pkeener said at 9:25 a.m. on May 6, 2008:
Just like we are there with you. I love all the textures. The curling river bed mud, the striations in the canyon, the colors in the rig on your friend's back. A Rattlesnake?? can't tell. The sequencing is like a short movie. I also like the small shot of your friend in the crevice..and HELLO!!?? that old truck in the last shot. Very nice, Allan. I don't know how you can take these shots while you are hiking, but you do!

To see this canyon hike through your eyes is fabulous. I took a short hike through one of the canyons in Utah and was in awe the entire time. To think you did 46 miles is mindboggling. I felt so tiny and had such a strong connection with the earth during that hike. This is just a wonderful set Allan

FANTASTIC SHOTS OF GORGEOUS UTAH. (i USED TO LIVE THERE FOR 4 YEARS AND WAS SURE TO HIT ALL THE GOOD SPOTS AND ENJOY THE OUTDOORS!). We were just saying we want to go back on a vacation to Utah (a best kept secret I think)...so it was funny to see this today...just whets the appetite....so gorgeous, nothing like it.

Beautiful trip and the photos were awesome. For me, your Tabblo was interesting from the standpoint of what I missed! We saw most of Busckskin, and Whitehouse Campground to Paria confluence.... did not make the passage to Lee's Ferry. You had water in the stream... we hiked a dry bed in hot weather! Great shots!
