Garden Birds #2 (May '08)

There's plenty of Kookaburras on the golf course next door, but only occasionally does one venture into the garden. Always welcome.

The noisy and belligerent Rainbow Lorrikeets seem to always be around these days. Their colour and antics add a wonderful dimension to the garden.

Visits by the beautiful Crimson Rosella seem to be declining lately. This one is defying the rule of parrots mostly picking up with their left foot!

About this time each year, we get visits from Gang Gang Cockatoos. Often when feeding, they can be very obliging to a photographer. Just love that coppery tinge on the breast of the female.

This is the first year the Satin Bowerbirds have constructed their bowers in our garden. Nearby, I spread some variously coloured items on the ground. In less than half a day, the blue items had been 'stolen' by the male for decorating his main bower.

Love the colors and these birds... A tripod and a zoom on their heads would be a killer shot!!! Kelly

Thanks Rdneg and Emmabro. Yep, wonderful birds. The colour and variety never ceases to amaze me. One day I'll get some good gear and acquire sufficient skill to get some shots that do them justice. Regards, PW
