Wow! the colours in some of these are amazing, and I see you've been playing around with dof as well! I love the shot of the chives... I think they are chives. And in the last shot the orange of the Rhodo just pops off of the page! Very glad to see you making a Tabblo Noreen! :) ... hmmm, looks like Gwen to me. ;)

Andre, Corina (Gwen's Mum!), Dar and Karsten - thank you all for your kind comments. Dar, I think perhaps Gwen had been using her Mum's computer and Mum was not aware that she (Gwen) had not signed herself out. I have to confess that I have a new camera and some of these photos were taken with it, a Canon G9. The other camera I used was my old faithful Sony R1. It is not difficult to capture these colours in this particular garden. They really are unbelievable, nevertheless I am pleased with the hardware! BTW, I think you are right, Dar, about the chives or allium, the giant variety - they are between three and four feet tall, just gorgeous.

A wonderful garden... love the way you have photographed it & some of the close ups... my favs are the white (? calla lilies ?) on the black background (very Georgia O'Keefe) and the lone purple close up with lots of others blurred along the right side... Thanks for giving me a peak into Victoria, BC

Noe, Jodi, Deb, Anne, Pat, Sterling, Oscar, Rick and Linda - thank you all so much for your generous comments. I am touched. Jodi, I think the Georgia O'Keefe flower is an Iris - the Calla lilies are also white and are in the seventh shot beside the pond!

MAGNIFIQUE, le miracle majestueux du printemps, et la sérénité de l'eau. Merci chère Noreen.

Well Noreen, you have outdone yourself with these. I live here and yet have never been to these gardens and I am certain that I will now go - always on the list of things to do. You are becoming a very accomplished photographer with great control over the depth of field on these photos. Laura
Welshchick said at 3:11 p.m. on May 24, 2008:

Thierry, Laura and Rhonda... your comments are much appreciated, almost overwhelming actually but that's OK _ i can handle it!! Rhonda, I look forward to your ferry trip to Victoria this summer - we must meet up. Butchart Gardens is another of my favourite gardens.

Wow Noreen, this is absolutely awesome! Each of them has thier own beauty. It will be easier to pick a Ms Universe than this. They are so pretty, gorgeous, sweet and nice. Its not fair to describe with words as there were so precious! Well done, Noreen! Great job! Excellant Tabblo!

Claude, thank you so much for visiting and your kind comment. I do hope you will post some tabblos soon - it is a lot of feel good fun!
BERRY36 said at 10:51 a.m. on Jun 1, 2008:
Merci Doreen. Claude

absolute stunning, these shots are so wonderful made, in the front clear and the background a little bit blurred in wonderful colours like a painting- great work, Holly !!!

I love the turtle swimming next to the lilly pads
AliDar said at 2:39 a.m. on Jun 10, 2008:
I just came back to see your water reflection shot, and I'm glad I did. My attention was caught by different shots this time. The first one with the softening of the blurred edges would make a wonderful greeting card and the colours in the 9th shot are quite amazing. ... Also, did you do anything to the white irises? I don't think I noticed that one the last time or I'm sure I would have said something. I love the dramatic lighting and how the dark background makes you focus on that lighting and the beautiful flowers highlighted by it.
Hollyridger said at 11:18 a.m. on Jun 10, 2008:
Dar, you have been busy! No, I just checked - the Irises photo is straight out of the camera, no cropping, nothing. I took it with the Sony R1 at f11, 1/200, focal length 71.5mm which is as long as it gets on this camera. The blurring/softening of the first photo was done in iPhoto. Thanks again for your interest and encouragement!
