I agree with Ira. it is a large tragedy.
Ira said at 3:46 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
There can be it because I know WHAT IS IT SUCH?
Leftofcenter said at 4:02 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
aren't couple relationships | in love | out of love | always tragic??
Ira said at 4:10 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Dislike always tragical history
Ira said at 4:11 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
But I do not speak about myself
Lifequest22 said at 4:14 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Hmmmm--Pigeons--actually a very interesting subject. A common sight in urban areas throughout the world, the Rock Pigeon was introduced into North America in the early 1600s. City buildings and their window ledges mimic the rocky cliffs used by wild pigeons.

These two love birds remind me of a song written by Dewey Bunnell, and performed by America.

"Pigeon Song"

"Well, I had me a pigeon
By the name of Fred
But I done shot him
In the head"
Pkeener said at 4:20 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
and then he went through the desert on a horse with no name...
Siagian said at 4:21 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
"doesn't anybody stay together anymore?"... i wonder if these birds mate for life? romantic/tragic tabblo...
Lifequest22 said at 4:34 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Mating habits of the pigeon

The feral pigeon mates for life and can breed up to 8 times a year in optimum conditions, bringing two young into the world each time. The frequency of breeding is dictated by the abundance of food. The eggs take 18/19 days to hatch with both parents incubating the eggs. Young dependant pigeons are commonly known as ‘squabs’. Both parents feed the young with a special ‘pigeon milk’ that is regurgitated and fed to the squabs. Each squab can double its birth weight in one day but it takes 4 days for the eyes to open. When squabs are hungry they ‘squeak’ whilst flapping their wings and as a result they are also commonly known as ‘squeakers’. At approximately 2 months of age the young are ready to fledge and leave the nest. This much longer than average time spent in the nest ensures that life expectancy of a juvenile pigeon is far greater than that of other fledglings.

i agree with you all...love is something too discus....uhm i think....no i know...
Lifequest22 said at 4:35 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
As you can tell from my extensive pigeon research, pigeons mate for life. Unless they jump off the building.
Ira said at 4:39 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Love. It is passion. It is a pain. Love the most perfect feeling. Destroys the habitual world. Breaks life. But without it it is impossible to live.
Lifequest22 said at 4:40 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
waaaaaaaaassssssssssssaaaaaaaaaaaabbbbbbbbbbiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leftofcenter said at 4:47 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
should I put this in the pigeon group or the love group?
Lifequest22 said at 4:52 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Is there a pigeon group? I think it's birds--but we could start a pigeon group.
EMA said at 4:55 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Very nice silhouettes! Love is in the air!
Eduardo.affonso said at 5:00 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Don't know why, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this was that old song, "Skyline Pigeon"... The first photo is very inspiring; the other ones remind us that nothing lasts forever...
Pkeener said at 5:25 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
i beg to differ, Ira! I think it is impossible to live with love sometimes. the pain and agony. like MRS WALTER PIGEON, here. DOOOON't JUUUUUMMMMMPPPP!!!!!!
AliDar said at 6:05 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:

AliDar said at 6:50 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Ok, now you went and did it! you put it in the loneiness group!... Now all I can think about is how that pigeon DOES look like it might want to jump!
JuDeck said at 7:10 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
i think the bird on the left got a call on his cell phone....and she's just saying...oh no
Bravemoonbearer said at 7:47 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Really nice Tabblo.I think some people have found the brownies.
Leftofcenter said at 7:51 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:

AliDar said at 7:54 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
The brownies have names?!!!!
AliDar said at 7:56 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
... Somehow you know, it's easier to laugh at pigeons being lonely together than humans. Great Tab Annelies. :)
Bravemoonbearer said at 7:59 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Yep, the brownies have names and I think Professor Lifequest22 should research this too.
Leftofcenter said at 8:03 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
as much as I appreciated the professor's previous effort- i think she may put her red cons up and relax now... :)
Leftofcenter said at 8:12 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Thanks "y'all", thx amigas for turning my serious tab into a tragic comedy! love | lust | passion | cellphones and jumping pigeons: the elusive question of all times. LAUGHTER, margaritas & whacky friends are still the best cure for the void. if there is any. ok JUMP pigeon!
Lifequest22 said at 8:19 p.m. on Jun 3, 2008:
Gotta get the little guy a parachute.

When does a bird need a parachute?
During World War II, a factory in Monmouth made parachutes pigeons.

Salut sbc. Thierry-chiloedream.
Leftofcenter said at 7:26 a.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
Thanks again everyone! turn off those cell phones. pigeons can fly thx for reminding us ALLAN ;)

"come close to me and kiss me to the core" pas heel goed bij het eerste fotootje MARIAN

hey lieve Ste, yes a lot of funny comments- I can always cound on the amigas to set the mood :))

thx again amiga for all yr extensive research on the private lives of pigeons ;)

Pat Benatar.

greens w/grilled squab and black olive vinaigrette:
season squab with salt and pepper. grill squab skin side down and cook to medium, about 12 minutes. set aside.
whisk vinegar and mustard slowly adding olive oil. add chopped olives and parsley. season with salt and pepper and arrange greens on plate.
place warm squab on salad and drizzle vinaigrette over and around squab.
bon appétit Pop! :)

Wonderful, I have all the ingredients. I don't need to go to the store. However, you did forget the wine, a Beaujolais maybe? Now, I going to hunt for Wabbits, I mean sqwwab. Even tragic love is better after a fine meal.
Leftofcenter said at 10:10 a.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
beaujolais sounds great and wabbit too, perfect cure for tragic love! :)))

hey Laura, thx- love the cowboy hat.
Leftofcenter said at 10:17 a.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
The first picture is really cool. They are almost making a heart with their two bodies. It looks like the one pigeon likes the other one more.
Leftofcenter said at 10:20 a.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
??? great! I forgot to LOG OUT in Holland maybe???? nick???
Tunderke said at 10:28 a.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
They are so cute togethher. Love to watch pidgent.
Npetten said at 10:33 a.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
that was me with the last comment. I've been surfing the web under your name, you might get some calls and emails in the next few days either asking for something or taking you to jail. My bad.

Now, back to the Pigeons. Really nice pictures. The first picture is the kind of moment that is only available for a fragment of time before it vanishes forever. There are moments in love that only last for a fragment of time before its gone, like the first kiss. Annelies, is that the first kiss for those pigeons? If so, you should market the shit out of it and sell it to Hallmark, they love that kind of mush!!!
Leftofcenter said at 10:39 a.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
how would i know if it was their first kiss???? don't talk to pigeons!! (yet) now LOG ME OUT everywhere on that damm computer grrr, I'll reward you my sweet favorite nephew! have fun in Holland!

pigeons and parachutes? is that the politically correct way to say bird droppings? heres some guys that could use a parachute http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGwDOzpTcgs&feature=related Your pictures A, are very cool...black and white is perfect for this, the first pic stands on its own...a little spark and heart.
Shenresi said at 1:35 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
für mich sieht es eher so aus, als ob zwei Liebende ihre Ruhe haben wollten. Weit oben, fern von allem Getümmel. Schönes Tabblo, Annelies !!!
Keeli said at 2:06 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
These are great silhouettes, great design with the black and white, very informative comments . . . though it does look like the one did just lay down and die in the end :-(

Leftofcenter said at 4:26 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
how can you tell ENALDO?? is it because the one on the left seems to "back out"??? :)

thanks EVERYONE, the comments are all very colorful, pigeons RULE!!
DocEna said at 4:29 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
You may be right ..I have seen this before in humans...
Lifequest22 said at 5:29 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
Looks like I'm going to have to do more Pigeon research.
Pkeener said at 5:33 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
I saw the heart shape, too. I agree, the female is on the right. but what cracks me up is all these human beings intrepreting a couple of birds that have a brain that is so small, i doubt it thinks about anything except basic survival.
AliDar said at 6:04 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
Pam you were the one who started us all on the jumping thing! <G>

Lifequest22 said at 8:49 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
Ok--did some research---"the absence of conspicuous sexual dimorphism in pigeons often makes it difficult to determine their sex on the basis of external morphology. We identified a novel female-specific DNA marker in pigeons, presenting the possibility of pigeon gender determination using a PCR-based method."

And this comes from the dept of animal science at a university in Taiwan.

Pretty impressive, huh?
AliDar said at 8:56 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
LOL! PCR? .... and here I was thinking you were going off to look for recipes. <G>
Leftofcenter said at 9:11 p.m. on Jun 4, 2008:
Thx amiga, I stopped at "dimorphism" (remember, I learned English from watching Bonanza), I think I liked you more when you would just drop in with some homemade brownies, basic survival (plus my brain matches the size of the pigeon's brain)
Thx pmc.

Encore merci Sbc. Thierry-chiloedream.
Leftofcenter said at 8:49 a.m. on Jun 5, 2008:
c'est Kerouac qui a dit "on ne peut rien exprimer de très clair en anglais", je préfère de loin la version de Cabrel et son accent du sud (qu'on devine à peine lorsqu'il chante d'ailleurs)!
Leftofcenter said at 8:53 a.m. on Jun 5, 2008:
merci tc, thanks everyone, sorry Deb I erased yr comment, senior moment... ;)
AliDar said at 3:36 p.m. on Jun 5, 2008:
That happened to me once when I was deleting a comment on one of my tabblos; accidently left my finger too long on the ok button. <G> ...Oh... I thought someone was offering brownies. ... Opps, must have been another tabblo. BTW Annelies, I forgot to mention earlier that I love the graphic black and white of this; suits the storyboard like unfolding of the little drama.
