Nature's way ~ a new addition

Chrysalis 2 days ago

The effort to help them goes on.....:)

THE END~

till the next batch!

The chrysalis just before butterfly emerges

This am 2 emerged,I just missed it

Last chrysalis, not quite ready, new butterfly in background

2 empty chrysalis,I can only find one butterfly!

I found this poor little one on the deck...it's wings would not open, and it's very weak.I place him on a plant to let nature take it's course...SAD

A beautiful new life

Go gently back to the earth little one

Death is beautiful when seen to be a law, and not an accident - It is as common as life.

~Henry David Thoreau, 11 March 1842, letter to Ralph Waldo Emerson

What a joy to help a little life :)

hope this one is OK

One of two emerged  strong, and healthy!  :)

3 of 4 this week.

After drying it's wings in the sun,it crawled onto my finger.

I gave it a little kiss goodbye, and it flew away.   :)

It was a good day.

For Sterling and Gerard....

the next morning, here it what emerged from the last chyrsalis pictured

JUST emerged,he clings to pupal case

See how thick the abdomen is

It pumps hemolymph fluid into the wings

Polka dots on the thorax!

Hanging to dry his wings

That are perfectly formed :)

A work of art!

He stayed here a few hours, fanning his wings

He is a beauty

Nature at it's finest

He's ready to go!

Off to live his life

Godspeed my little friend!

Deb, thank you so much for the dedication, the boys and I are just so enthralled with your work, that I believe we are going to attempt to raise and release some of these wonderful creatures. Wonderful photos and what an experience, it truly is a work of art to see the process they go through. Nature is just so amazing. Thank you for the inspiration.
