Peak One in the Ten Mile Range

The hike to Peak One follows a ridgeline that first takes you across Mt Royal, Mt Victoria, and then on to the three tiered crest with Peak One at the top.

Rest stop on the way up. Background view is of Buffalo Mountain

Our first clear view of our destination, Peak One.

Lake Dillon.... haze on this day was caused by wildfires as far away as California.

Pine cones emerged in a brilliant burgandy color.

Steep drop-offs on the I-70 side of the ridge.

Looking W North West: I-70, Uneva Lakes, and the eastern section of the Gore Range.

Ten Mile Peak (peak two) and the rest of the Ten Mile Range to the South.

Huge cornice remains....July 12th, 2008

Attaining the summit of Peak One. A demanding hike due to steepness. Elevation 12,805 feet.

Looking northeast, Mt Victoria in foreground, town of Frisco, I-70, and Lake Dillon.

Enjoying the peak on a warm, mild-wind day.

A short rest on the downclimb results in a vicious attack by a high altitude attacker on the unsuspecting hiker... (he actually tried to pull my hydration hose and then my pack!)

Looks like a very nice hike and well earned rest stops! Good thing the pika didn't steal Linie's sunglasses, as I'm sure his supply is low.
