Your Grandparents?? Very good photos of them... Grandma looks like she is sitting right next to you giving her sage advice... Grandpa not too happy with it... or you taking his picture... Lovely Dar!!

These are my partner's Parents, but they are Grandma and Grandpa to some. You're right about Grandma; she's very wise and very kind, but Grandpa, he's not grumpy; he's just aware that I'm taking his photo. :)

Great portrait shots Dar! I love how you captured the women completely unaware and the lighting was perfect. The man has such a Hemmingway look to him. Super 2-fer.

Thanks Jude; I think Grandpa would like that analogy very much. :)

Great shots Dar of Ali parents. Doesn't look like Ali's dad likes to get his picture taken, LOL. Great shots though ! ! !
AliDar said at 2:35 p.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Thanks Mom! ... If I still lived out east, you and Andre would be here! :)

Nice portraits of two people who've lived through enough years to get their priorities right & probably wish they could put their wise heads on younger shoulders for a minute or two & promote more sense of the world we all live in.

The magnificent persons. Wisdom, mind and kindness. Only lived years give all this. Remarkable photos.

Dar, these are indeed VERY striking portraits. You are very good at this sort of thing as I have often told you. Unfortunately, I am not! Ali's Mum is so pretty and her Dad so handsome. I have to agree with Jude's Hemingway analogy. Great tabblo!!

That first picture is striking. Excellent DOF and very good composition and coloring. Almost perfect.

Wow! Thank you everyone! :) I was wondering if I should invite them to view this tab, not being sure about how they'd see the comments, but I think they will be very pleased by your compliments, both directed at myself and to them as well. Thank you everyone!

Noreen, you're right, I don't believe I've ever seen a portrait taken by you. I would love to though, maybe you should give it another go. Your photography has been improving quite dramatically over the last little while, and you could get some really nice candids with that lens that you've recently just started using again. :)

Bill, Almost perfect is a great compliment, and one that I'm very happy to have recieved; I don't know what I'd do if they were perfect. What would I have to do next? :)

Dar, I just love these portraits. The shot of Ernest :) with the reflection makes the shot extra interesting. Everythng about these makes them such a delight to gaze on. I bet they would look beautiful framed and make a lovely gift.
AliDar said at 4:44 p.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
I was wondering who Btk was. <G> Thanks Deb, though I'm positive there's room for improvement... especially since I just discovered how to set the camera on full manual, aperture priority, and shutter speed priority! (chuckle) Thanks Bobbie and Lorrai.... Harry! :)
AliDar said at 4:49 p.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Thanks Linda; ... I was wondering if anyone noticed the reflection and what they thought about it. :) ... I might just do that framing and gift giving thing you mentioned as well. Thank you.

What else is there to say that hasn't already been said? It's all so true. These are great portraits...I believe that some of the best photos of people happens when they aren't posing. Very nice job! :)
Jigs said at 11:41 p.m. on Jul 23, 2008:
Everyone has said all that I wanted to say! This is a beautiful tribute to two special people. You should have your portraits printed out and framed nicely as gifts for them. :-)
Shenresi said at 9:07 a.m. on Jul 26, 2008:
great portraits, Dar!!! i like the light in the pictures and the creamy, pastell- coloured background in the first pic. The both are looking very sympathic, though, Grandpas view is a bit critical.
