My Dad, Jess Green, was a resident in the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas but recently moved to this facility, the Ussery-Roan TSVH in Amarillo, Texas, where he is a resident in the Alzheimer's Ward. While he doesn't suffer from dementia, he has a tendency to take a walkabout!
The pictures in the top portion show the entrance and the general wards. The Home is on the northwest side of town on the Old Tascosa Road.
Clicking on the pictures will show them full-sized. |

The Alz Ward is a spacious room lined with the resident's rooms. The large nurse's station, next to the doors to the rest of the facility, dominates the south end while the doors to the enclosed patio and garden are on the other end.
The residents eat in the common area and have other activities there. It hardly feels like an assisted living facility; more like a dormitory or something. |
