SITTS BLUFF - Lake Ontario near Fair Haven, NY

About 20,000 years ago,  the Laurentide ice sheet retreated from what is now Central New York State leaving behind some 10,000 drumlins. On the southern shore of Lake Ontario, between the cities of Oswego and Rochester, some of the drumlins have been carved by erosion into spectacular bluffs approximately 50 meters high.  These pictures were taken at Sitts Bluff, just east of Fair Haven State Park on a hot August afternoon.

Very cool formations Paul; they look soft, like they'd be eroded away in just a couple of years. That one in the fifth photo reminds me of Cleopatra's Needle. Thanks for sharing this. :)
