HOUNDS~ an evening with "the boys"...

BUCKLEY

Hound of my heart

How huggable

this furry face,

the heart and paw

I doth embrace...

A blessed touch

of canine grace~

For Buckley

DEAR GOD, PLEASE HELP ME TO BE THE PERSON MY DOG THINKS I AM... Thanks for reminding me of that poem Paul~ :^)

My hounds are bred out of the Spartan kind,

So flew’d,

so sanded;

and their heads are hung

With ears that sweep away the morning dew;

Crook-knee’d, and dew-lapp’d like Thessalian bulls;

108 Slow in pursuit, but match’d in mouth like bells,  Each under each.

A cry more tuneable.

William Shakespeare ~from A midsummer's night dream

"Reverence: the spiritual attitude of a man to a god

and a dog to a man."

- Ambrose Bierce

MARTY SHOWS HIS LOVE BY SITTING ON YOU!

Adorable Marty enjoys a massage from Cheryl

Joel and Tianna and BUCKLEY

THIS is Puppy Love...

Nothing like a tummy rub!

Love One Another~

Jesus Christ

Seems to be natural for a dog who's been loved and cared for...while the abused and neglected learn to defend and distrust... Hmmmmm...what about humans?  Everyone needs love and compassion to heal the heart and begin again~  Rhonda

Center of attention~

Amidst the human charm and cheer...

you're sure

 to find a doggy near~

A very proper squat of delight

So easy to love...Buckley

Sunday evening we all went to Cheryl's and Ken's house for dinner and an evening of fun and companionship with Ken's dogs - Buckley and Marty -also known as "The Boys"... Afterward...I got to waxing lyrical as I am prone to do when I've been in the presence of impressive and noble creatures"... ;^)

And in our hearts so dear. Very sweet Rhonda :-)

On my refrigerator I have a magnet that has the following prayer: "Oh Lord help me to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am." Though I no longer have a dog, I still aspire to the qualities dogs, by their unconditional love, seem to ascribe to their humans.

We must keep in mind, however, that Martin is no hound...

Besides making the point that Marty isn't a hound, I will say that I suddenly found myself imagining the imagining that must have turned and ticked in your mind as you found just the right poetry for this festival of dogs. If we are going to be specific about ethnicity, Buckley is Beagle/Blue Heeler and Martin is a German Shepherd/Husky mix...perhaps other things for both of them. They were both rescued...six years ago for Martin and almost Eleven years for Buckley, whose equally formal name is Pig.

THANK YOU EVERYONE! Thanks Cheryl~
Yes, a little history: These adorable dogs were both rescued by Ken, my daughter Cheryl's boyfriend and believe me...this is a case of mutual worship all around... :^D Marty (Martin) is the beautiful Shepherd/Husky mix) and Buckley is the Beagle/Blue heeler mix with the translucent eyes... ;^) This was indeed as Cheryl says "The Festival of Dogs"! BY THE WAY... My daughter Cheryl is working on her harp CD...she plays the Celtic harp and she is goooood!!! From the proud Mother~
