Day 2, Victoria BC

<Back         Next>

Here we are tied up at the pier in Victoria, BC.   We are right downtown, in front of the Empress Hotel and the Parliament building.   Just in front of the boat you can see the walkway that leads from the pier to the waterfront park area.   There are entertainers along the waterfront most of the day and evening.

Here we are looking across the street at the old Empress Hotel.

Another view looking up at this grand old building.

And one more view taken on the other side of the hotel.  Very nice area.

The waterfront, where many of the permormers are found l;ater in the day.   Also artists, tourists, and so on.   In the background here is the parliament building.

In the middle right of the picture is the walkway down to the pier, and right behind the walkway is where the boat is tied up.

Below, a typical crowd gathered to watch a performer do his stuff, here climbing a wall for some reason.

No fuel taken on at Friday Harbor.  Arrived here with gauge indicating 1/4+ tank.  Total distance 60 miles so far. 718.4 hrs on engine meter.  Took on 60 liters of fuel.  That was a mistake, at a fuel burn of 2 MPG, I should have used 30 gallons, so should have taken on at least 100 liters.  This left me short on fuel the next day, at Butchart cove, where fuel was not available.  Travel across Haro Strait was rough and relatively slow.   Had to come down off plane at times.
