Easter 2009

Easter was mellow. The kids and I made a fun treat, "birds nests" made out of Rice Krispies, Fluff, coconut "grass" and chocolate eggs.  We also colored easter eggs which will make for lots of egg salad sandwhiches this week.  It was cold (in the 30s) but we took a walk anyway.  I'm always reminded how lucky we are to live where we do--despite the howling wind it's pretty special to live so close to the ocean.

Debbie, Tom, Lucie and Ben came over for an easter egg hunt and an early dinner.  Having lost 2 of the kids' remaining 3 grandparents over the past 2 years, and with the third going from perfectly healthy to living in a nursing home in Pennsylvania, it is still a bit weird having these holidays all by ourselves.  I'm assuming at some point I'll stop wondering when the grownups are going to arrive ;)

Lisel, I love your family tabblos, Thata's what holidays are about, carrying on traditions and making new ones!
I always half expect to find my place at the kid's table! I can empathize with your situation, and appreciate your feelings. Your food looks yummy, the beach looks divine, sunny or not.

The last row is so perfect!

Looks like a good day - although the beach still looks cold. Unfort is rained here all day so we had to hunt indoors.
