CathyStacy said at 11:13 a.m. on Nov 8, 2009: Thank you for this tabblo even though it made me cry. Great picts. Most of all...thank you to all the men and women who was or is in the military. And most importantly....the next time you pass by a homeless person on the street....the odds are that he/she is a veteran. That is not what this country should do or allow for our veterans. Lets all reach out just a little bit to the homeless.
Pattymaryclare said at 7:27 p.m. on Nov 9, 2009: YES BOB so many MANY countries, in a certain order, fought WWI & II (which really was not WWII but more properly the 'resuming' of THE GREAT WAR (WWI) which was never 'won' but an armistice treaty signed and of course, Hitler, broke the armistice. FIRST ALL OTHER WARS WHETHER VIETNAM, KOREAN, GULF AND SO ON ARE NOT !!! part of this rather LONG COMMENT. I wanted to sorta' set a 'timeline' for WWII and Germany/Japan as attackers as they relate to Allied Nations entering that war which ACTUALY BEGAN SEPEMBER 1939 ........
1 September 1939: The German invasion of Poland.
3 September 1939: France and Britain declared war on Germany. (Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa followed by 10 September).
22 June 1941 : The Soviet Union (German attack on the USSR).
8 December 8, 1941: America declares war on Japan (after Pearl Harbor attack)
It is a popular misconception among Americans that the US voluntarily entered WW2, at least against the Germans.
In fact, the US didn't. The US entered the general war TWO YEARS LATER as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor. But the US entered against Japan and did not, repeat not, declare war on Germany.
However, a few days after Pearl Harbor, Hitler declared war on the US, thereby putting an end to the US dilemma. After a meeting between Churchill and Roosevelt, it was agreed that the British and Americans would have a "Germany first" policy.
Whether the Americans would have declared war on Germany had not Hitler made the decision for them is one of the great unanswered questions of history. The US had, of course, been completely isolationist prior to 7 December 1941.~ WIKI
WE ARE NOT 'GLAD' YOU WERE ATTACKED BY JAPAN (or any countyr) BUT WE ARE GLAD THAT IT FREED UP YOUR GOVERNMENT (or Constitutional constraints) TO FINALLY ENTER WORLD WAR II, OR JUST THINK!! (shudder) WHAT 'MAY' HAVE BEEN THE OUTCOME?!? Yes thank God for Roosevelt and Churchill and all countries who formed the United Nations and NATO, even if they were somewhat maligned, degenerated or 'ignored' this past decade ....'MAY PEACE REIGN SUPREME SOMEDAY GOD AND MANKIND WILLING' xo PATTY
