Cori Meets a Porcupine

Cori and I were outside playing fetch around dusk  tonight when Cori got distracted by something in the trees.

I called her back but she went to explore anyway.

The results are clear to see.  She found a Porcupine.

She's spending the night at the emergency vertrenarian to have the quills removed.

Wow. Her facial expression looks both sheepish and concerned. I imagine that those quills are painful. Poor Cori. Looks like she was lucky she didn't get one in the eye.

Poor Corie, such a sad and painful face! I have just one question...Why were you running for the camera instead of rushing to her aid?

The pictures were taken with my phone's camera at the vets office.

poor Cori! Hope she feels better soon and that they don't go too deep!

Pete: Off topic but did you take these with your Treo 700w?

Ned: Tabblo feature suggestion. It would be nice if I could set a timezone in my user profile. I posted my first comment just before midnight PDT but it displays in EDT.

Bob, yes these came from the Treo 700w. Given no flash, fluoresent lighting and the fact Cori was fidgeting and I was trying to calm her while I tool the pictures, I think they came out pretty good.

I'm glad in safe lil' New Zealand we don't have snakes, and only a few animals with spikes and poisons...

Ohhh My! So sad, that has got to really hurt. Dogs and cats are so much better at hiding their pain then us humans. If I was going thru that I would be Expressing My Pain somehow. Those quills in the nose gotta be the worst. True Cori is lucky about the eyes being unharmed. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

I just wanted to let everyone know, Cori is doing great. She's back to her old tail wagging self again.

wow how painful this all seems... glad to know she's OK. This brings back memories of when I was a kid in Michigan, and my brother accidently snagging my dog Max's nose while fishing with a treble hook (he got hooked because he had moved behind my brother while he was casting). Talk about traumatic. I don't think my brother ever forgave himself for that one... poor Max had to stay at the vet's all night.
