Montreál's Olympic Stadium

This is the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, built for the 1977 Olympics.

Although tours of the statium are available, we didn't actually go inside because it costs about $20 (on top of the $5 for parking!).  That's a bit steep, if you ask me.  Instead, we walked around the aging structure and guessed what's inside.  If you look closely, the stadium seems like it's in disrepair.  There are cracks all over the concrete and weeds popping up inside the cracks.  It appears to have been built on-the-cheap considering it hasn't stood up well to 30 years of use.  I guess that's why most pictures you see of the stadium are from a distance.  It certainly is an impressive building.

That's my expert architectural opinion.

Ah I attended a couple of swim meets here when I was younger yet I still forgot that it was so weird looking! Very interesting way to introduce one to an Olympic venue but still very awesome.
